Men's waxing at TLC Nails and Esthetics is body waxing for the back, chest, stomach, arms, legs and underarms, done by a licensed esthetician in a private suite.
Back Waxing and Chest Waxing for Men
A full back wax covers the whole back, from the upper back to the lower back. A full chest wax covers the chest, and the stomach is booked as its own area.
If you've been shaving your back or chest, put the razor down about two weeks before your appointment. A few days of stubble is too short for the wax to hold.
On the back and chest, waxing takes unwanted hair out at the root, so smooth skin holds for three to four weeks, a little shorter or longer depending on the area.
Which Wax Goes on Which Area?
Soft wax
Soft wax is the one made for broad areas, and the back and chest are two of the broadest on the menu. A thin layer goes on and comes off with a strip.
Hard wax
The most sensitive skin gets hard wax. The wax is applied warm, hardens around the hair, and lifts off without a strip.
Both are premium wax, and either one removes hair from the root. Which one Thiara reaches for depends on the area being waxed and your skin.

A Licensed Esthetician in a Private Suite
Thiara is a licensed esthetician in Nottingham and the only person who works at TLC, so she does your wax from start to finish. Her Maryland esthetician license dates from 2025, and her nail technician license from 2024.
The suite takes one client at a time, by appointment only, and the door stays closed for the whole wax.
The suite at 9706 Belair Rd opened in August 2025, and Thiara works in English and Spanish.
Prep and Aftercare for Men's Waxing
Before your wax
- Let the hair grow to at least a quarter inch, about the length of a grain of rice.
- Keep lotion and oil off the area on the day of your appointment.
- Exfoliate gently the day before to help prevent ingrown hairs.
- Wear something loose and breathable to the appointment.
After your wax
- For the first 24 hours, skip heat, sweating and tight clothing, which means no sauna or hard workout that day.
- After two or three days, start exfoliating gently to keep the skin smooth.

I'm so glad I found Thiara as my new nail tech. I'm on my third hard gel set with her and I know they're going to last me a full 3 weeks until my next appointment. Her studio is super clean and she's very professional. She even mixed nail polishes to color match an inspo pic I showed her.

A back wax stings for a moment each time a section of wax comes off, and how strongly you feel it differs from one person to the next. Soft wax with a strip is used on broader areas, and hard wax, which lifts off without a strip, goes on the most sensitive skin.
Hair should be at least a quarter inch long before a wax, about the length of a grain of rice, so the wax has enough to grip. If you've been shaving your back or chest, stop and let the hair grow out to that length before you book.
A full back wax at TLC takes 45 minutes, and a full chest wax takes 40. A stomach wax is 30 minutes, underarms are 20, an arm wax is 45, and a half leg wax runs 60 minutes.
Men's waxing lasts three to four weeks, a little shorter or longer depending on the area being waxed. Each hair is pulled from the root and regrows from below the skin, so rebooking at around three to four weeks catches the regrowth once it's long enough to wax again.
Loose, comfortable clothing is the best thing to wear to a wax appointment, because tight clothing should stay off freshly waxed skin for the first 24 hours. For a back or chest wax, a shirt that's easy to pull on over the area is all you need.
